We’re around a month on from the Wild Nature 3 Kickstarter ending and I was honestly glad for the break from promoting. It takes a LOT of energy doing that on top of a day job, making a comic, and having a life.
But I’m back and looking at posting a more normal once a month, instead of the weekly rhythm I built up for the campaign. Loads of art updates and more coming now the book is almost finished.
I’m trying lots of expressive colouring techniques as I get closer to finishing the book. The emotional stakes of the last third are so high, I can get away with weirder stuff than earlier in the book.
And it’s been great seeing how much I’ve grown as a cartoonist in the last three years.
I’d have never been capable of nuanced expressions and body language like this when I started the series. So that’s cool.
And some genuinely weird, weird stuff too…
Obligatory promo sentence: you can pre-order Wild Nature Complete on Gumroad.
Conventions!
It’s the convention season in the UK, and I’m looking forward to getting out there. Wild Nature Complete should be in the world during September, so that’ll be the first chance to pick it up in print.
Here’s where you’ll find me:
5 August - Perth Comic Con
29-30 September - Lakes International Comic Art Festival
21 October - Dundee Comic Con
11-12 November - Thought Bubble
There are a few small, specialist cons I’m hoping I get to table at before the end of the year too. I’ll announce them here.
That’s me for now! Have a great week.
David
